Cameron, Beougher named October Athletes of the Month

With one person helping their team open the season with five straight victories and the other leading their squad to the national tournament, Cowley College sophomores Mekhi Cameron and Laci Beougher were recently named the school's October Athletes of the Month.

Cameron is averaging 18 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as he has the Tigers receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I men's basketball rankings. Cameron's solid play helped Cowley recently sweep the home-and-away series against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa for the first time in 10 years.

Beougher, a sophomore member of the No. 3-ranked Lady Tiger volleyball team, leads the Tigers in kills and kills per set. She is also second in the conference in kills as she was recently named a First Team All-District and All-Conference selection. Her 874 kills rank fifth all-time in the history of the Cowley volleyball program.

Cameron, who has a 3.51-grade point average, is majoring in Liberal Arts. He recently signed a letter of intent to continue his playing career at the University of Northern Colorado.

Brougher has a 3.54 GPA and is majoring in General Studies. The team captain has helped Cowley to a record of 38-3 and an appearance at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Cedar Rapids, IA.
