Bio

Darren Burroughs begins his fifth season as head coach of the Tigers after spending the previous 30 years as an assistant coach to his brother Dave Burroughs. Darren has helped coach the Tigers to 21 Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division titles in the past 28 seasons, and 11 trips to the NJCAA World Series in the past 26 seasons, including five of the past seven (eligible) years. He was part of 1,257 wins as assistant coach of the Tigers before leading Cowley to a 15-7 record in his first season as head coach before the season ended abruptly. He then guided the Tigers to conference and region titles and a fifth-place finish at the JUCO World Series during the 2021 season. During the 2022 season, Burroughs led Cowley to conference and region titles, a 54-11 record, and a national runner-up finish.

This past season, he helped Cowley finish second in the conference and region as the Tigers finished with a record of 39-22.

He graduated from Vinita High School in Vinita, Okla., in 1978. There, he was an all-star and played for the Oklahoma All-Star Team in what is now called the Sun Belt Classic.

Darren was a fifth-round draft choice out of high school and went on to play 10 years of professional baseball, including six years at the Triple-A level. He participated in three major league spring trainings.

Darren and his wife Carolyn are the parents of two children, Brent and Brylee.
