Tiger men win fifth in a row, Lady Tiger tennis team falls at OBU

The No. 2-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team won its fifth straight match with a convincing 5-2 win at NCAA Division II Oklahoma Baptist University on Tuesday. The No. 4-ranked Lady Tigers were not as fortunate as they suffered a 5-2 loss to the Lady Bison.

The Tiger men won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches.

"This was a good win for the team," Cowley assistant coach Arianna Raga said. "The conditions were tough due to the high wind, but the team was able to stay focused. They worked hard and the results showed their effort and dedication."

The Lady Tigers found wins hard to come by as they got victories from its No. 3 doubles team and No. 5 and No. 6 singles players.

"The women's team fought hard, Arianna Lumanog and Isid Hernandez both played three sets but fell short at the end," Raga said. "The team is committed to improve their game and they will keep working towards their goals."

Cowley will play at Collin County Thursday at 3 p.m. The Collin men are currently ranked sixth and the Collin women are ranked ninth. Following Thursday's competition, the Tiger tennis teams will take part in the Southwest JUCO Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Plano, TX.

"These are both very important matches and Manny (Raga) are I are hoping to come out with great results," Arianna Raga said.
