Trio of softball camps approaching at Cowley College

Cowley College is preparing to host summer softball camps for grade school, middle school, and high school age participants. The camp for those ages 10 and under will be held June 28, a camp for those age 14 and under will be held June 29, and the camp for those age 18 and under will take place June 30.

All three camps will take place at Ed Hargrove Field in Arkansas City. The camp for 10 and under will run from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $40 per camper. The price includes instruction, a Cowley softball t-shirt, and drinks.

The camp for 14 and under will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $40 per camper. The price includes instruction, a Cowley softball t-shirt, scrimmage, and drinks.

The camp for those 18 and under will have camp instruction, a scrimmage, drinks, and a campus walk-through.

The camp will be led by Lady Tiger head coach Jenny Hoyt and assistant coach Tori Beltz. Returning players from the Cowley Tiger softball team will also be on hand to provide individual instruction.

The offensive session will teach fundamentals to help players become better offensively. Included in this session will be hitting, bunting, and slapping. A base-running portion will be designed to show players techniques and tricks to help them become a threat on the base paths.

The defensive session will focus on teaching fundamentals that will help players become better defensively. There will be many great drills to improve infielders and outfielders, proper throwing mechanics, and fielding ground balls and fly balls correctly.
