Bio

Melburn P. Brown Sr., Class of 1961, was a three-sport athlete for Arkansas City Junior College.

The Winfield native was an All-American fullback in 1960, selected by Wigwam Wisemen of America. He was nominated to play in the North-South All-Star Game in Albuquerque, N.M., but missed the game because of a knee injury.

Brown also played basketball, and he also was a standout track athlete, recording the third-best javelin throw in the state in 1961 at a little more than 185 feet.

Brown also has a passion for tennis, and has won Missouri Valley titles in Over 60 Singles and Mixed Doubles.
