Bio

Butch Rea, who had a stellar two-year career at Cowley College, returns for a third season as an assistant coach for the Tigers.

Rea helped Cowley go 92-22 during his two years as a student-athlete. The Tigers went 54-5 and were ranked third in the final NJCAA national rankings during the 2015 season. He finished his Cowley career as the school’s all-time leader in hits (169) and run scored (133).

After Cowley he spent one season playing baseball at the University of Central Arkansas where he started 26 games and finished second on the team with seven sacrifice hits.

Rea then transferred to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where he batted .294 while leading the team in hits (58). He was second on the team with seven home runs and 38 runs batted in while starting all 47 games for the Riverhawks.

He has helped Cowley capture back-to-back conference and region titles as well as place fifth at the JUCO World Series during the 2021 season and finish as the national runner-up in 2022.

He previously served as a graduate assistant at Northeastern State University during the 2018 season and was an assistant coach for the Riverhawks in 2019.

He married his wife, Abby, on June 6, 2020.
