Former Cowley player named MVC Newcomer of the Week

Dalen Ridgnal, a two-time All-American for the Cowley College men's basketball team, continues to do big things at Missouri State as the senior was recently named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Newcomer of the Week.

Ridgnal, who spent last season at the University of Georgia, led the Bears to wins over MVC preseason favorite Drake and at the University of Northern Iowa. For the week, Ridgnal averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from three-point range (7-of-14) and 58 percent from the floor (11-of-19).

Ridgnal scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win over UNI. He made 5-of-9 three-point attempts in the victory.

Ridgnal followed that up with eight points, four rebounds, and a pair of three-pointers in a 52-49 win at Drake.

Ridgnal was named a First-Team All-Region selection both years at Cowley and was the Most Valuable Player in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division his sophomore season. He finished his Tiger career as the ninth all-time leading scorer in the history of the program.
