Large turnout for Cowley softball camps

Hosting a summer softball camp for grade school age participants on Tuesday and a camp for middle and high school students Wednesday at Ed Hargrove Field, close to 60 individuals took part in the Cowley College softball camps.

The camp was led by Lady Tiger head coach Jenny Hoyt and assistant coach Tori Beltz . Returning players from the Cowley Tiger softball team were also on hand to provide individual instruction.

The offensive session taught fundamentals to help players become better offensively. Included in this session were hitting, bunting, and slapping. A base-running portion was designed to show players techniques and tricks to help them become a threat on the base paths.

The defensive session focused on teaching fundamentals that will help players become better defensively. There were many great drills to improve infielders and outfielders, proper throwing mechanics, and fielding ground balls and fly balls correctly.
