Bio

The sixth head coach in the history of the Cowley College softball program, Jenny Hoyt was named the Jayhawk East Coach of the Year during the 2017 and 2023 seasons.

This past season, Hoyt helped Cowley reach 40 wins and capture the conference title for the first time since the 2018 season.

Prior to this, Hoyt guided the 2017 team to a Jayhawk East title, Region VI District E championship, and a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Clinton, MS, as Cowley finished the 2017 season with a record of 46-17.

She led the Lady Tigers to a second consecutive conference title during the 2018 season and a return trip to the national tournament, where Cowley placed fifth and finished with a record of 42-16.

During the 2019 season, Cowley finished just one game out of winning a third straight conference title. While, during the 2020 season, the Lady Tigers had won five games in a row and were 2-0 in the Jayhawk East before having the season come to an end due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the 2021 season, Hoyt led Cowley to a No. 17 national ranking, a second-place finish in the Jayhawk Conference, and a record of 34-19.

In the 2022 season, she helped Cowley to a No. 14 national ranking and a record of 38-14. The team finished second in the conference with a record of 26-6.

Hoyt has led the Tiger softball team to 304 wins in her first nine seasons in charge of the program. Hoyt helped the Cowley College softball program to a pair of conference titles and a record of 93-20 as a player during the 2006 and 2007 seasons, Hoyt returned to the school to serve as an assistant coach under then head coach Ed Hargrove during the 2011 season.

With Hoyt back at Cowley, the Lady Tigers have gone 489-200 the past 13 seasons. The Lady Tigers have placed in the top-seven at five of the last 10 national tournaments. Helping Cowley to a record of 55-8 overall and a third place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament during the 2013 season, Hoyt and then head coach Ed Hargrove were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year.

During the 2014 season, Hoyt helped Cowley capture its third straight Region VI title and place seventh at the national tournament with an overall record of 43-14. Prior to returning to Cowley, Hoyt spent one season as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Mars Hill College in Asheville, North Carolina. A Rose Hill native, Hoyt helped coach the outfielders and pitchers at Mars Hill as the team went 29-18 overall and 9-7 in the South Atlantic Conference.

After seeing limited playing time as a freshman at Cowley, Hoyt took advantage of her starting role as a sophomore and was named a second-team all-conference and all-region third baseman for the Lady Tigers as she batted .341 with 28 runs batted in. Playing in her final home game on April 29, 2007, Hoyt hit her first and only home run of her career as a Lady Tiger. Hoyt’s home run keyed Cowley’s 8-0 win over Highland Community College and helped the Lady Tigers clinch their fourth straight Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division title.
