Fincher, Kowalska earn all-conference honors

Helping the Cowley College women's basketball team to 19 wins and a home playoff victory, the Lady Tigers had two players named to the Jayhawk East all-conference team. Sophomore Baylee Fincher was named a First Team all-conference selection, while fellow sophomore Martyna Kowalska was named to the Second Team.

"I am really proud of both of them," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. "They are both very deserving of this recognition."

Fincher filled up the stat sheet for Cowley, leading the team in scoring (15.5 points per game), assists (3.6 per game), and steals (2.4 per game), to go along with 5.4 rebounds per contest. Fincher's 482 points scored this season were the programs' 20th most points scored in a single season.

"Bailey, being the second leading scorer in the conference, was very consistent and had a great year for us," Clark said. "She did a good job of closing out several games for us."

Kowalska averaged a double-double of 14.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. The 6'0 sophomore also averaged 1.5 blocked shots per game.

"To average a double-double is crazy good," Clark said. "Martyna improved dramatically from when she first got here."

This marked the second straight season that Fincher and Kowalska were named all-conference performers as the duo helped Cowley to 35 wins over the past two seasons.
