Lady Tiger soccer team blanks Neosho 3-0

The Cowley College women's soccer team recorded its first shutout since its opening game in a 3-0 win at Neosho County Saturday in Chanute, KS.

Alba Lopez was rarely challenged in goal as she recorded the shutout. Lopez got all the help she would need from sophomore Angela Gatto, who scored her first two goals of the season. Lina Fasquelle added her fourth goal of the year as Cowley improved its record to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Jayhawk Conference Western Division.

"Coming off a loss, it was important that we responded the way we did," Cowley assistant coach Tanner Brock said. "We controlled the game from the first whistle with our ball possession creating a lot of chances. We still need to capitalize on finishing our chances. To only have three goals with the number of times we were in front of goal was a bit disappointing, but at least we were creating those chances."

Neosho County is now 3-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The Lady Tigers will return home to face Dodge City Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Lady Conquistadors are 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Jayhawk West.
