Lady Tiger tennis team off to fast start at national tournament

Ranked fifth entering play at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship in Tucson, AZ, the Cowley College women's tennis team got the start they wanted by winning all 10 matches played on Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Tigers are currently in a five-way tie for first place as they enter competition on Monday.

Cowley has yet to drop a set at the 27-team national tournament.

*No. 1 – Isid Hernandez/Ntokozo Zungu (CC) defeated Mia Falconi/Haley Quick 6-1, 6-0; defeated Sofija Djunisijevic/Jelizaveta Govrova 6-0, 6-3.

*No. 2 – Mariia Koroleva/Camila Neyra (CC) received a bye in the first round; defeated Paula Curci.Azul Barrios 6-4, 6-2.

*No. 3 – Saara Kunakunova/Valentina Jimenez (CC) received a bye in the first round; defeated Aubrey Hunter/Jumai Muhammed 6-1, 6-2.
