Marcos Vinicius Longo Ribeiro named assistant soccer coach at Cowley

Marcos Vinicius Longo Ribeiro begins his first year as an assistant coach with the Cowley College men's and women's soccer programs. He will join current assistant coach Tanner Brock as assistant coaches of the Tiger soccer teams.

Marcos is originally from Concordia, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Soccer has been a part of his life since he was a child. Marcos left home at the age of 13 to pursue a soccer career in Brazil, where he played for various teams, including Concordia Atlético Clube, São Luz de Ijui, and Chapecoense. He also played in Europe, where he played for Whitehawk F.C. in England and Rayo Cantabria in Spain.

Marcos came to the United States in 2018 to play for Johnson County Community College, where he was the team captain and led the team in assists. In 2018, he was named team MVP, and in 2019, he was named Academic Player of the Year.

During both seasons at Johnson, Marcos was a First Team all-conference and all-region selection. He earned an associate's degree in liberal arts and earned NJCAA All-Academic Second Team recognition with a grade point average between 3.80-3.99.

He spent his final two years at Baker University, where he received a BA in Business and Marketing. At Baker, Marcos was also a key member of the squad, once again being the leader in assists.

During his time at Baker, he played two seasons of semiprofessional soccer for Sporting Wichita in the UPSL league, where he was coached by Cowley soccer coaches Ruy Vaz and Tanner Brock.

Marcos has previous coaching experience by assisting at summer camps and club tryouts.
