Track does well at KT Woodman

Cierra Gray and Siyabonga Jiyane lead the way for Cowley at the KT Woodman Classic

The Cowley College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to compete at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State University, where the Tigers battled high winds on Saturday. Despite the conditions, the Tigers had another very good showing.

Cierra Gray had another big day in the women's shot put, winning the event with a mark of 45-0 ¼. Dakota Dapper also performed well in the pole vault with another big personal best, while Tavarie Campbell had strong showings in the 800 and 1,500-meter runs.

On the men's side, Siyabonga Jiyane is quietly creeping up on the leaderboard in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

"We had lots of really good things from this weekend," Cowley head coach Cameron Rieth said. "We had several athletes either putting up their personal bests or getting very close, which is always good to see despite the conditions. Regardless of the conditions, we are learning how to bring it, which is very important because we never know what the weather is going to be like. It was good to see most of our athletes figuring things out."
