Mbengue signs letter of intent with UTEP

Fresh off earning Second Team all-conference honors as a member of the Cowley College women's basketball team, sophomore Ndack Mbengue recently signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career and education at NCAA Division I University of Texas at El Paso.

The Miners are coached by former Wichita State University women's basketball coach Keitha Adams, a native of Oxford, KS.

"She is going to a good school with good people," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. "I am excited to see her growth at UTEP."

For the season, Mbengue averaged 12.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Mbengue twice recorded 24 rebounds in a game and registered a season-high 37 points in a road win at Pratt.

She came on strong in the second half of the season and helped the Lady Tigers earn a home playoff game thanks to her 53.8 percent shooting from the floor.

Over her final 10 games, Mbengue averaged 16.8 points and 14.9 rebounds

"She really improved her last semester and had a great finish to her career at Cowley," Clark said.

Mbengue enjoyed her time at Cowley as, along with basketball, she was crowned 2024 Homecoming Queen, was named the February 2024 Female Athlete of the Month, and October 2023 Student of the Month.

"I wasn't too sure about coming to a junior college, but I feel Cowley helped prepare me to play at the next level and gave me the confidence that I will do well at UTEP," Mbengue said. "After talking to a lot of coaches, I got the feeling that Coach Adams and UTEP will take care of me on and off the court."
