Lady Tigers get the help they need, advance to the national semifinals
Needing second-seeded Seminole State College (OK) to defeat seventh-seeded Salt Lake Community College in the final game of pool play at the NJCAA Division I Women's National Soccer Championships held Tuesday afternoon at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS, the No. 11-seeded Cowley College women's soccer team got the help they needed to advance to the semifinals.
Seminole State knocked off Salt Lake 2-1, leaving those teams and Cowley each with a record of 1-1 in Pool B. The Tigers moved on over the other two teams thanks to goal differential.
Cowley (13-4-4) will face the winner of Pool A Thursday at 10 a.m. in the semifinals of the national tournament. The winner of Thursday's semifinal game will advance to play for a national title on Saturday at 1 p.m. All of the games are played at the Stryker Sports Complex.
