Tiger sports teams gearing up for national tournaments

All five of Cowley College's fall sports captured district or region titles and will compete at the national championships.

The No. 1 ranked Cowley College women's cross country team and No. 5-ranked men's cross country team recently captured region titles and will compete at the NJCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday, November 11, in Huntsville, AL.

The Cowley College men's and women's soccer teams won the Plains District Championships and will compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS. The Lady Tigers (12-3-4) earned the No. 11 seed and will open play at the national tournament against second-seeded Seminole State College (19-0-1) at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Win or lose, the Lady Tigers will play again Monday at 12:30 p.m. against seventh-seed Salt Lake Community College (15-2).

The Tiger men (15-4) earned the ninth seed and will play fourth seed Monroe College (11-2-1) on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and fifth seed Angelina College (13-0-2) on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The No. 1-ranked Cowley College volleyball team (37-0), fresh off winning the Plains A District Tournament title, is awaiting to see who and when they will play in its opening match of the NJCAA Division II National Championships held November 15-18 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
