Rafael Furlani recently signed a letter of intent

Two-time all-conference goalkeeper signs with NCAA Division II Barry University

After a pair of successful seasons as the starting goalkeeper for the Cowley College men's soccer team, Rafael Furlani recently signed a letter of intent to continue his playing career and education at NCAA Division II Barry University in Miami, FL.

Furlani was a First Team all-conference selection as a freshman after posting seven shutouts and a goals-against average of 0.85. He was again named a First-Team all-conference selection after posting four shutouts and a goals-against average of 1.10 as a sophomore.

Furlani helped Cowley win 33 games and qualify for back-to-back national tournaments.

"I am extremely happy for Rafa," Cowley head coach Ruy Vaz said. "He is going to one of the top four NCAA Division II programs in the country and an overall great school. Barry has a top coach and staff with a winning mentality, so Rafa will receive elite coaching. Rafa is one of the best players in Cowley's history and is part of our most successful run ever. I will miss him dearly. He is a great goalkeeper but an even better person."
