Three Tiger tennis players to compete for a national championship

Tigers have top-ranked singles and doubles teams

Showing how talented the No. 2-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team is, the Tigers have the top-ranked singles and doubles teams in the latest Oracle ITA NJCAA Division I rankings.

Sophomore Jack Clements, who has only one loss on the season (9-1), is the top-ranked singles player. Clements has also teamed with freshman Takeshi Taco to make up the top-ranked doubles team as they have gone 10-2 on the season.

"Jack is a special talent," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "When you are the best player in the nation you have to work even harder because everyone wants that top spot. Jack knows that, and he is even hungrier now to win the national championship. Takeshi was thrilled to find out about the rankings."

The Tiger men have four singles players ranked among the top-26 players, while their three doubles teams are each ranked in the top-20.

The Lady Tiger tennis team, which is currently ranked fifth, has six singles players ranked in the top-50 and all three doubles teams ranked in the top-20.

"Having multiple players ranked in the national singles and doubles rankings speaks to how hard we have worked this year," Raga said. "Both teams know the job is not done, we have to keep training to be at our best for the national tournament."
