Tiger wrestlers drop dual at fourth-ranked Pratt

Facing its most formidable opponent of the season, the Cowley College wrestling team battled hard but found wins hard to come by in a 40-12 loss Thursday at No. 4-ranked Pratt Community College.

"We wrestled tough," Cowley interim head coach Justice Circle said. "The score doesn't show it, but we had guys go out there and battle."

Cowley's wins came by fall as Melton Powe was victorious at 174 pounds, and Kanden Young pinned Kaden Glass at 197 pounds.

In a matchup of top-10 wrestlers, the Tigers' Aidan O'Dell lost a tough match against Kaden Spragis at 125 pounds. While Dean Setticase, ranked fifth at 285 pounds, controlled the match against top-ranked Devon Dawson before losing in overtime.

Cowley will now prepare to host a dual against Labette on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

"We will continue to train and close the gap," Circle said. "Once again, the score doesn't show how hard we wrestled. Things are coming together at the right time."
