Lady Tiger volleyball team signs middle hitter from Hungary

The Cowley College volleyball team recently signed Hungarian standout, Gyongyver Araczki, to the Lady Tiger program for the Fall 2021 season.

Araczki, a 5-foot-9 middle hitter, prepped at Balatonfüredi Szent Benedek Középiskola és Kollégium in Balatonfüred, Hungary. She began playing volleyball for Bekescabai RSE Club in A1 HUN in 2011 and played for the program until 2019. In 2020, she began playing for Szent Benedek Roplabda Akademia Club in A1 HUN. In addition to playing for these clubs, she also played for the U17 Hungarian National team. In 2018, her national team finished 12th in the European championship and finished fourth in the Mevza tournament. In 2019, her U19 team finished in first place in the Hungarian Championship, BRSE.

"Gyongyver is an outstanding player who will add a dominant presence to our offense and defense," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "Gyongyver is an aggressive middle who can attack opponents with a variety of sets and angles plus she puts up a strong block that will cause problems for our opponents. Her national team experience will be invaluable as she makes the transition to the college game. We are excited to have her as a part of our program at Cowley."

Araczki is the daughter of György Araczki and Mária Sárközi.
