Lady Tiger volleyball team adds hitter from Maize High School

The national champion Cowley College volleyball program has announced the addition of Maize High School standout Joscelyn Buckley to the Lady Tiger program.

Buckley, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter/opposite hitter, prepped at Maize High School, where she played four seasons of volleyball. In her senior season, she led her team to the Kansas 6A State Tournament and a Kansas 6A Sub-State Championship while recording 272 kills at 2.9 kills per set, 59 digs, and 26 blocks. She was named AVCTL DI Honorable Mention for her efforts and was named to the Thunderbird All-Star Volleyball match. In her junior season, she totaled 170 kills at 2.0 kills per set, 67 digs, and 15 blocks.

Off the court, Buckley also competed in swimming for four years, where she led her team to the Kansas 6A State Tournament from 2022 to 2024. She was also named team captain for the swim team in her senior season. Buckley also competed for the One Volleyball Academy (OneVA) volleyball club to enhance her volleyball skills in preparation for college play.

In academics, she was honored with the Maize High School academic letter and was named a Shocker Honors Scholar.

"We were in search of a strong and athletic outside/opposite hitter with back row skills, and we found a great fit in Josci," head coach Steven Gream said. "She is an athletic hitter who is very coachable, has a passion for the game, and has the ability to read defenses and hit a variety of sets. This makes her such a well-rounded athlete who has the ability to play multiple positions and give our program another great weapon for the upcoming season. Josci will adjust well to our fast-paced offense and use her experience to run a variety of sets that our offensive system requires for a front-row hitter. We are excited to have her as a part of the Cowley volleyball program."

Buckley is the daughter of Beau and Alysia Buckley of Wichita, Kansas.
