Final Athletes of the Month named at Cowley College

With the school year winding down, Cowley College recently announced its March and April Male and Female Athletes of the Month.

The March Male Athlete of the Month is soccer captain Shunnosuke Nakajima from Kanagawa, Japan. The sophomore business major has a 3.9-grade point average. He was selected First Team All-Conference and All-Region as he captained the most prestigious team in the history of the men's soccer program.

Women's basketball player Gracie Gilpin from Emporia, KS, and sophomore Lillie Dodge of the Tigerette Danceline were named Co-March Female Athletes of the Month. Gilpin was Cowley's second-leading scorer at 11.5 points per game. She has a GPA of 3.71.

Dodge is a sophomore Liberal Arts major that has a GPA of 4.0. She has been on the nationals competition dance team both years at Cowley and serves as a leader on the squad.

The April Male Athlete of the Month is sophomore track and field thrower Jaden Schneeberger from Ponca City, OK. Schneeberger recently broke the meet record in the hammer at the Pratt Beaver Invite and has been ranked as high as No. 2 nationally in the weight throw.

Lady Tiger softball player Kyla Bonnarens of Cache, OK, and women's track and field standout Kayla McClellan of Tulsa, OK, were named Co-April Female Athletes of the Month.

Bonnarens leads the Jayhawk Conference in runs batted in with 38 and has the highest batting average on the team (.513).

McClellan, an All-American freshman in the hammer throw, recently finished as the national runner-up in the weight throw at the indoor national championships. She recently signed with the University of Wyoming.
