Cowley College announces its March and April Athletes of the Month

With the spring season in full swing, Cowley College recently named its final Athletes of the Month for the 2023-2024 school year.

The March Male Athlete of the Month is Cowley sophomore Jadyn McNealy of the Tiger baseball team. The March Female Athlete of the Month is Lady Tiger track and field athlete Tavarie Campbell.

April featured co-Athletes of the Month with Tiger thrower Julien Washington and cheer/dance team member Slava Sychev receiving the Men's Athlete of the Month honors and Lady Tiger volleyball player Laura Bonomi and softball player Emily Louderback being named the Female Athletes of the Month.

Campbell earned indoor track All-American honors in the 1,000-meter run and ran the event's second-fastest time in school history. She scored 30 points over five events at the indoor conference meet and has a grade point average of 4.0.

McNealy is a returning first-team all-conference shortstop who batted .345 with a team-leading 530 on-base percentage as a freshman. McNealy is batting .402 this season with 25 runs batted in and nine stolen bases. McNealy has a GPA of 3.06 and has signed early with the University of Akron.

Bonomi had a stellar freshman season for the undefeated national champion-winning Lady Tiger volleyball team. She was named a First Team All-American, finishing first in the Jayhawk Conference in hitting percentage and second in kills. She has a 4.0 GPA.

Louderback was named a First Team all-conference designated player as a freshman when she batted .364 with 10 doubles and 26 runs batted in. This season, she is batting .382 with a team-leading eight home runs, along with 36 runs batted in for the No. 19-ranked Lady Tiger softball team. The pre-physical therapy major has a GPA of 3.16.

Washington is a returning All-American in the hammer throw and continues to impress at the start of the 2024 outdoor season. He has a GPA of 2.88.

Sychev serves as the mascot, Tank The Tiger, while performing with the cheer and dance teams. Competing in the Mascot division against other junior colleges and four-year schools, he received first place and a national championship. The English major has a GPA of 3.7.
