Hugie, Dapper named February Athletes of the Month

Cowley College sophomores Shamarrie Hugie and Dakota Dapper were recently named the school's February Male and Female Athletes of the Month.

In eight games in February with Men's Basketball, Hugie averaged 15.5 points per game and shot 53.8 percent from the field. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. 

He had a stretch of three straight 20-point games and helped the No. 5-ranked Tigers go 8-0 in February and capture the Jayhawk Conference title.

The psychology major has a grade point average of 2.84.

Dapper, a member of the No. 15-ranked Lady Tiger track and field team, is currently ranked in the top 5 nationally in the pole vault. She was the Region VI and conference champion and has the third-best mark in school history in the event. Last year, she was a two-time All-American in the event.

The pre-nursing major has a GPA of 2.72.
