Tiger baseball team drops another mid-week contest

Mid-week games have yet to be kind to the Cowley College baseball team, as they have surrendered 14 runs in each of its past Tuesday afternoon contests. This time, the Tigers lost at Seminole State College 14-4 Tuesday in Seminole, OK.

After Cowley starting pitcher Jack Hill (0-1) allowed three runs in the first inning, the Tigers scratched across single runs in the top of the third and fourth innings to pull within 3-2. However, the Trojans erupted for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning and tacked on five more runs over the final two innings of play to run-rule Cowley 14-4.

Four walks and an error aided Seminole's six-run fourth inning. Xavier Casserilla and Jackson Halter homered for the Trojans, while right fielder Conner Owens drove in five runs.

Trayson Miller homered for the Tigers while going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Eight Tiger pitchers combined to allow 12 hits and seven walks while striking out just five. Preston Pattison earned the win for Seminole by allowing just four hits and two runs in four innings pitched.

The Tigers are now 11-9 on the season.

Cowley will return home to play a doubleheader against Allen Community College Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. The Red Devils (13-10) are just behind Cowley (6-2) with a record of 5-3 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.
