Parker tosses no-hitter in sweep of Highland

Facing 16 batters and retiring all but one of them, Cowley College sophomore pitcher Brigden Parker tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the Tigers' 10-0 win over Highland Saturday at the Tiger Baseball Field in Arkansas City. The Tigers would win game two 7-5 to complete the sweep of the four-game series.

Cowley is now 18-11 overall and 13-3 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

Parker (2-0) struck out seven in the opener and was aided by Cowley pounding out 13 hits. His only blemish was a hit batsman. Ty Hammack and Logan Vaughan had two doubles apiece and combined to drive in four runs as Cowley got to Highland starting pitcher Conner Pruyser for nine runs in four innings.

Danny Satterlee (1-2) gave the Tigers another strong start in game two, allowing only six hits and two runs while striking out six and walking none.

Hammack, Cooper Schwindt, Eaden Holt, and Jadyn McNealy had two hits apiece, while sophomore Haden O'Toole went 1-for-2 with two runs batted in. Cowley drew nearly as many walks (eight) as they had hits in the game (nine).

Highland falls to 9-23 overall and 1-11 in the conference.

Cowley will remain home to face Seminole State College (OK) Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Trojans defeated Cowley 14-4 when the teams met in Oklahoma earlier this season.
