Coffeyville snaps Tiger men’s soccer team’s six-game win streak

After winning its first six games at home, the No. 4-ranked Cowley College men's soccer team suffered its first home defeat in a 4-1 loss against 15th-ranked Coffeyville Community College Saturday in Ark City.

Cowley had its six-game winning streak end, as they are now 11-2 overall. Coffeyville improves its record to 10-4-1 on the season.

Coffeyville scored two minutes into Saturday's game and again two minutes before halftime to lead 2-1. Cowley would get its first-half goal from Sora Funakushi off an assist by Caique Trivelato.

The score would remain 2-1 until midway through the second half when the Red Ravens got goals from Joao Gustavo and Calvin Scholten to pull away for the road win as things got chippy between the two teams down the stretch.

The Tigers will have some time off before hosting Garden City Saturday at 4 p.m. The Broncbusters are just 6-10 on the season.
