Tiger men’s soccer team posts second straight 1-0 win

Playing conference newcomer Seward Community College Wednesday in Liberal, KS, the No. 3-ranked Cowley College men's soccer team made it four shutouts in a row to start the season as they slipped past the Saints 1-0.

The game's lone goal came midway through the first half when Yuto Toyoizumi scored off an assist from Sora Funakoshi.

Cowley would control the game, outshooting Seward 20-2.

"It was an eventful game," Cowley head coach Ruy Vaz said. "It was a great performance by the boys, but we need to finish the chances we create. We dominated them for 90 minutes, but if you don't score, things can get difficult.

The Tigers are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Jayhawk Conference, while Seward falls to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Cowley will return home to take on Dodge City on Wednesday, September 6, at 7 p.m.

"Dodge City is always a tough opponent, very physical and fast, but we will have a long week to prepare well," Vaz said.

The Conquistadors are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Jayhawk Conference
