Tiger men’s tennis team takes down a pair of NCAA Division II foes

The top-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team improved its record to 4-0 on the season with a pair of wins over NCAA Division II squads over the weekend. The Tigers began with a dominating 5-0 win at Drury University on Friday before knocking off Northwest Missouri State University 4-3 Sunday in its home opener.

On Friday, Cowley dropped only two sets while taking down the Panthers.

"We have been playing really aggressive doubles, and against Drury on Friday, we started off doing exactly that," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "After winning all three doubles matches, the guys kept the energy high and took care of business in singles."

Playing in front of its home fans on Sunday, the Tigers bounced back from dropping two of three doubles matches to win four of six singles contests.

"Against Northwest Missouri State on Sunday, doubles wasn't great, shots were not falling in the right spots as they usually do," Raga said. "But, in singles, the guys started off very well and played with confidence which led to us winning the four singles we needed to win the dual match."

The Tigers will look to remain unbeaten when they play at Washburn University Monday at 1 p.m. in Topeka, KS.
