Tiger tennis team gets major test against WSU

Playing against a high-level NCAA Division I tennis program in Wichita State University Wednesday at the Genesis Health Club in Wichita, KS, the Cowley College men's tennis team gave the Shockers all they could handle in an exhibition match played between the teams.

Cowley got a 6-2 victory from its No. 1 doubles team of Bruno Nhavene and Boruch Skierkier, while Hanamichi Carvajal, Taiyo Hirano, and Nhavene took their singles opponents to a third set before the match was stopped due to the Shockers clinching the win.

"This match was a good opportunity to see some spots and areas that we need to improve moving forward," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "I was impressed with Bruno and Boruch's performance in doubles and we had some great performances by Hanamachi, Taiyo, and Bruno in singles.

The Tigers, who are No. 1 in the junior college rankings, will play at NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University Friday at 2 p.m. in Bolivar, MO.
