Tennis champion signs with NCAA Division I program
Cowley College doubles national champion Omar Suarez has parlayed his tennis success at the junior college level into signing a letter of intent with NCAA Division I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Suarez will have one season of eligibility left to play at Cowley before playing for the Islanders.
As a freshman during the 2024 season, Suarez teamed with Sergio Alejandro Gonzalez to capture the No. 3 doubles title at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championships while also advancing to the semifinals of No. 3 singles.
Suarez's strong play helped the Tiger tennis team finish as the national runner-up at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championships.
Cowley head tennis coach Marcel Miasato believes Suarez's signing with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is a good opportunity for Suarez and the Islanders.
"I think Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is getting an amazing player on and off the court," Miasato said. "I am sure he will accomplish great things there."
