Green, McClellan help Tiger track and field teams get off to fast start at outdoor nationals

Led by Cowley College sophomore Treavor Green capturing the national title in the men's hammer throw and fellow sophomore Kayla McClellan finishing as the national runner-up in the women's hammer throw event, the Tiger men and women's track and field teams got off to tremendous starts at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held Thursday in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Along with Green winning the title in the hammer throw, fellow Tiger thrower Jaden Schneeberger finished as the national runner-up in the event, and freshman Julian Washington earned All-American honors by placing sixth.

Joining McClellan as an All-American in the women's hammer was Lady Tiger sophomore Sarah Robinson, who placed fifth. Sophomore Jacie Carson also performed well in the pole vault, placing seventh and garnering All-American honors.

The Tiger men are currently in second place, one point behind tournament leader New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Tigers are third in the team standings, trailing only tourney leader Cloud County and second place Barton County.
