
Morfin and Nxgabazi named KJCCC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
Winning the high jump at the Mark A. Phillips Tiger Open, Cowley College sophomore Victor Morfin was recently named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Butler Community College's Itumeleng Nxgabazi was named the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Along with winning the high jump, Morfin recorded the fifth-best mark in the NJCAA this season (6 feet, 7 ½ inches).
Nxgabazi had a big week in Texas, running the 1,500-meter run at two different meets, Texas State's Bobcat Invitational and the University of Texas Relays. At the Texas Relays, Ngxabazi placed second in the 1500-meter B section, running it in 3:49.96. At the Bobcat Invitational Nxgabazi set a meet record and a personal record, running a time of 3:48.29 and taking first at the meet.
