Tiger cross country runners compete at the University of Missouri


Appearing in the top three of the first NJCAA Division II national rankings, the Cowley College men's and women's cross country teams recently competed at the University of Missouri Gans Creek Classic. The Tiger men placed seventh out of 14 teams, and the Lady Tigers took a partial squad to compete.

Washburn University placed first as a team in the men's standings, and the University of Saint Mary placed first on the women's side.

The No. 2-ranked Tiger men were led by sophomore Santiago Nunez-Gonzalez, placing 13th out of 146 runners with a time of 25:28.7 in the five-mile race. The No. 3-ranked Lady Tigers were led by Dheniffer Vaz's 63rd-place finish in the 3.1-mile race.

Iowa Western's Johnathan Brown won the men's race with a time of 24:25.4, and Missouri Western's Madison Nash (21:36.3) placed first in the women's race.

The Tiger cross country teams will have some time off before competing at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at the Ollie Isom Invite in El Dorado, KS.
