Lady Tigers’ score season-high 104 points in 48-point road-win

The Cowley College women's basketball team jumped out to a big lead in its road game at Neosho County on Saturday and never looked back in the 104-56 win.

The Lady Tigers' led 29-11 after one quarter of play and 61-24 at the end of the first half as sophomore Seanna Boltz hit six three-pointers and scored all 18 of her points in the first half.

Freshman Baylee Fincher added 15 of her 17 points in the opening half, while Martyna Kowalska scored 10 of her 16 points in the game's first 20 minutes of play and finished with a game-high 13 rebounds.

Cowley had six players score in double figures as Ryley Beard (13 points), Shamara Henderson (12 points), and Kalyne Daniels (11 points) rounded out Lady Tigers scoring 10 or more points in the victory.

The Lady Tigers' lead would balloon to 89-36 heading to the fourth quarter as they cruised to their sixth win in their past seven games.

"We got off to a great start and really kept it up most of the game," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. "We are starting to figure some things out and have been more consistent with our play."

Cowley is now 8-4 overall and 6-4 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division. The Lady Tigers are just a half game behind Independence for third place in the conference.

Neosho County had no answer to Cowley's defensive pressure as the Lady Panthers committed 47 turnovers. Lauren Jones led the Lady Panthers with 17 points as Neosho County falls to 3-6 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Cowley will return home to take on Allen Community College Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Red Devils have struggled to a record of 1-12 overall and 1-10 in the Jayhawk East.
