
Boltz named First Team All-Conference; Fincher and Kowalska earn Second Team honors
Helping the Cowley College women's basketball team to a record of 15-9 and a victory in the Region VI Tournament, sophomore Seanna Boltz was named a First Team All-Conference selection. Lady Tiger freshmen Baylee Fincher and Martyna Kowalska were also honored by being named Second Team Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division All-Conference selections.
Boltz, who led the Lady Tigers in scoring at 13.3 points per game, finished as Cowley's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 202 and also ranks 15th on the school's all-time scoring list with 781 points.
"Seanna had two great years here," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. "She is a great shooter that continued to improve during her time at the school."
Fincher, a guard from Ponca City, OK, filled up the stat sheet, averaging 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game. While, Kowalska, a post player from Poland, averaged 12 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Kowalska also led Cowley by shooting 52.6 percent from the floor.
"Baylee and Martyna were really solid for us and both improved throughout the year," Clark said. "I hope they both have a great second year at Cowley."
Butler's Tamara Nard (12.8 points, 7.7 rebounds) and Coffeyville's Faith Simpson (17.2 points, 9.5 rebounds) were named Co-Most Valuable Players in the Jayhawk East. Independence's Rapaluchi Ayodele Ngorka (11.1 points, 11.9 rebounds) was named Freshman of the Year as well as well as the Defensive Player of the Year and Butler's Mike Helmer was named Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Grizzlies to the conference title.
