Second-half woes continue for the Lady Tiger basketball team

Being held to 11 second-half points in its game at No. 15-ranked Barton Community College, the Cowley College women's basketball team saw a 30-26 halftime lead turn into a 53-41 defeat Tuesday in Great Bend.

Cowley led 36-30 with 4:08 left in the third quarter but scored only five points the rest of the game as they fell to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Lady Tigers have been outscored by 45 points in the second half of its three conference games.

Baylee Fincher led Cowley with 19 points and eight steals as she went 7-of-14 from the floor. However, the rest of the team combined to make just 8-of-39 field goal attempts as Cowley was held to 28.3 percent shooting.

Barton's Jenny Nkem Womsi led the Cougars with 18 points and 20 rebounds as Barton out-rebounded Cowley 44-29. The Cougars are now 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Cowley will look to snap its three-game losing skid when they play at Northwest Kansas Tech Saturday at 2 p.m. The Mavericks are also 0-3 in the conference.
