Lady Tigers demolish Cloud County 90-56

Forcing Cloud County into 29 turnovers, the Cowley College women's basketball team built a commanding 25-point halftime lead and cruised to a 90-56 victory Wednesday night inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.

Cowley got scoring from seven players and led 20-14 after the first quarter of play. Leading 28-22, Cowley would close the first half on a 21-2 run. The Lady Tigers turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter and turned the T-Birds over 15 times in the opening half.

Cowley would score eight points in the final 18 seconds of the second quarter and went into halftime with a 49-24 advantage after Gracie Gilpin sank her fourth three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer.

Gilpin scored 14 of her team-high 17 points in the first half as she finished 5-of-10 from three-point range. Gilpin was one of four Cowley players to score in double figures as the Lady Tigers had 13 players score in the 34-point win.

Sophomore Lexi Rose scored nine points in 12 minutes of action as Cowley got 35 points from its bench.

Cloud County's Maimouna Sissoko led all scorers with 20 points, but the T-Birds made just 1-of-14 attempts from three-point range. Cowley out-scored the Lady T-Birds by 39 points behind the arc as they made 14-of-40 three-point attempts.

Cowley is now 9-8 overall and 4-7 in the Jayhawk Conference. Cloud falls to 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the conference.

The Lady Tigers will attempt to make it two wins in a row when they play at Pratt Community College Saturday at 2 p.m. The Beavers are 10-5 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
