Lady Saints drain 16 three-pointers in win over Cowley

The Cowley College women's basketball team hung close for a half in its game at Seward County before the Saints exploded for a 32-point third quarter en route to an 80-53 win Saturday in Liberal.

The Lady Tigers trailed just 34-28 after the first half of play, but Seward hit seven three-pointers while outscoring Cowley 32-17 in the third quarter. Alianna Colon went 7-of-12 from three-point range, and the Lady Saints finished 16-of-31 beyond the arc.

On the other hand, Cowley made just 4-of-30 three-point attempts as they fell to 12-13 overall and 7-12 in the Jayhawk Conference. Seward improves its record to 14-12 overall and 12-8 in the conference.

Sophomore Carson Dean led Cowley with 13 points and six rebounds, while Anna Przyszlak and Baylee Fincher added 12 points.

Cowley will look to turn things around when they host the bottom two teams in the conference in its next two games. The Lady Tigers will take on Garden City (8-17) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Colby Community College (1-23) Saturday at 1 p.m.
