Gilpin signs with Emporia State University

Following a solid freshman season as a member of the Cowley College women's basketball team, Gracie Gilpin will be moving on as she signed a letter of intent to continue her playing career at Emporia State University.

Gilpin was the Lady Tigers' second-leading scorer at 11.5 points per game after shooting 32.1 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free-throw line. She added 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

"Gracie really improved throughout the year and was pretty consistent for us down the stretch," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. "She displayed toughness and an ability to play through things."

Gilpin will be returning to her home of Emporia to play for new Emporia State University head coach Brian Ostermann, who spent the past nine seasons as the associate head coach at Kansas State University and has ties to the Jayhawk Conference from his time as head women's basketball coach at Colby Community College from 1999-2004.

"It was kind of the perfect storm where Emporia got a new coach, and this is Gracie's hometown, so it seems to be a good situation for her," Clark said. "I look forward to seeing how things go for her at Emporia State."
