Beau Perez leads Cowley wrestlers at MVC Open

A small group of Cowley College wrestlers took part in the Missouri Valley College Open Saturday in Marshall, MO. The No. 24-ranked Tigers were led by freshman Beau Perez going 3-1 at the tournament.

Cowley freshman Dean Setticase also wrestled well as he went 2-2 on the weekend, while sophomore Alex Rodriguez picked up a win at the tournament. Daniel Camilo-Ferreira, Mouhamadou Sene, and Alex Howard were other Tiger wrestlers that competed at the tourney.

"This past weekend was about getting a little bit of mat time for some guys and staying healthy," Cowley head coach Beau Vest said. "I feel like we were able to accomplish that. We were able to get a couple guys on the mat that have had very few matches this season and I feel like the mat time helped them."

The Tiger wrestling team will now prepare to compete at the South Central Region Qualifier Saturday at 9 a.m. in Colby, KS.

Cowley results:

*157 pounds – Beau Perez (CC) went 3-1.

*165 pounds – Alex Rodriguez (CC) went 1-2.

*165 pounds – Daniel Camilo-Ferreira (CC) went 0-2.

*184 pounds – Mouhamadou Sene (CC) went 0-2.

*197 pounds – Alex Howard (CC) went 0-2.

*285 pounds – Dean Setticase (CC) went 2-2.
