Cowley wins dual at NCAA Division II Newman University

Continuing to show growth as a team, the Cowley College wrestling squad picked up an impressive 33-17 win at Newman University Wednesday in Wichita, KS.

Cowley got wins from six of its 10 weight classes, including pins from Aidan O'Dell (133 pounds), Daniel Stephens (174 pounds), and Stefaan Fearro (285 pounds).

"We showed up and preformed like the team we knew we had," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. "We dropped a tough dual to Newman last year, so it felt good to get that one back in dominant fashion. It was a big win against a very tough Division II team. I am proud of our guys."

Cowley's other wins came from Chance Davis (157 pounds), Bryce Goucher (184 pounds), and Lewis Caples (197 pounds).

The Tigers will not compete this weekend, instead opting to have some time off before taking part in the Bob Smith Open, Saturday, December 2 in Hays, KS. Matches will begin at 9 a.m.

"Now, we need to build off our performance against Newman," Circle said.
