Cowley wresters take part in NJCAA Coaches Dual, prepare for home dual

Facing four ranked teams at the NJCAA Coaches Dual held Friday and Saturday at Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, OK, the No. 25-ranked Cowley College wrestling team battled hard but went just 1-3 in the duals.

The Tigers picked up a big, 36-18 win over No. 6-ranked Northwest Wyoming, before falling to No. 8-ranked Iowa Central by a score of 38-16. Cowley also lost close matches to No. 11-ranked Labette (25-20) and No. 7-ranked Triton Community College (32-25).

"It was a long weekend for our guys with three top 10 duals," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. "We battled, but still have to clean some things up if we want to be in that top 10 talk."

Cowley will return to Arkansas City to host a tri-dual with Colby and Neosho beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday inside W.S. Scott Auditorium. The Tigers will host Colby 15 minutes after the conclusion of the 4 p.m. match between Colby and Neosho.

"The NJCAA Coaches Dual was a good benchmark to see where we were at heading into this last stretch of the season," Circle said.
