Lady Tiger soccer wins second straight overtime game

Playing its first road contest of the season, the No. 16-ranked Cowley College women's soccer team overcame cold, rainy conditions to win its second straight overtime game. This time, Cowley got an overtime goal from sophomore Michaela Seahorn to win at Dodge City by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday.

Wednesday's game was scoreless for the first 78 minutes before Francisca Valenzuela scored to give the Tigers the lead. However, the Conquistadors answered with the game-tying goal with only five minutes left in regulation.

Seahorn's game-winning goal came on a shot from 18 yards out with two minutes left in overtime. The victory improves Cowley's record to 2-1 in the Jayhawk Conference, while Dodge City falls to 0-1.

"The girls displayed some unmatched resilience, played hard and dominated the game," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said. "We played good, solid defense and created lots of opportunities but couldn't finish. However, we have seen lots of progress offensively."

Lady Tiger goalkeeper Makayla Farquharson stopped five of the six shots she faced.

Cowley will return home to face Johnson County at 2 p.m. The Lady Cavaliers are 2-0 on the season.

"We are going to recharge and prepare to face Johnson, which will certainly be a good matchup," Dos Santos said.
