Findley’s corner kick proves to be enough in 1-0 win

After a scoreless first half against unbeaten Barton Community College Wednesday in Arkansas City, the No. 17-ranked Cowley College women's soccer team got a goal from sophomore Harlie Findley two minutes into the second half and held on for the 1-0 win.

The goal by Findley came when she sent a beautiful corner kick winding over the head of the Lady Grizzlies goalkeeper just two minutes into the second half.

Playing with the lead, Cowley did a good job of controlling the game and not giving Barton many chances to tie the contest. Cowley improves to 4-1-1 in the Jayhawk Conference, while Barton falls to 5-1-1 in the conference.

"As expected, Barton came ready to press from the beginning," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said. "We were flat in the first half of the match and gave them opportunities. Second half, we came out with more focus and responded in the beginning of the second half with a corner kick from Harlie Findley, which gave us the lead and momentum to control the rest of the match. We missed several opportunities to stretch the score, but it was a good game and important win for Cowley."

Makayla Farquharson recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers.

Cowley will now prepare to play at Neosho County Saturday at 5 p.m. The Lady Panthers (0-6) are winless on the season and have yet to score a goal.
