Lady Tiger soccer team posts third straight shutout

Scoring a pair of goals in a two-minute span of Wednesday's game at Garden City, the No. 13-ranked Cowley College women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win.

The Lady Tigers got first-half goals from Carla Ruiz and Marta Aranda to lead 2-0. Natalia Lima and Michaela Seahorn would add second-half goals as Cowley goalkeeper Makayla Farquharson did not have to register a save while recording her third straight shutout.

"I am happy how the team started and finished the game," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said. "Our players didn't let the windy, western Kansas, weather affect our game. We were able to press Garden most of the game in their defensive half. We had opportunities and finally finished a good portion of it. I was happy to see how we handled the adversity."

Cowley remains atop the Jayhawk Conference Western Division with a record of 6-1-1. Garden City is now 1-8.

The Lady Tigers will remain on the road to face Butler Community College Saturday at 10 a.m. The Lady Grizzlies are 3-4 in the Jayhawk East.
