Four Lady Tigers score in 4-1 win over Western Texas College

Once again showing the depth of its squad, the No. 14-ranked Cowley College women's soccer team got scoring from four players in a 4-1 win over Western Texas College Friday at the Mark A. Phillips Athletic Complex.

After scoring a pair of goals in Cowley's 4-1 win over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Wednesday, Nanaka Inaba notched her third goal of the season 24 minutes into Friday's contest.

Gabrielle Oliveira would add her second goal of the season a little more than three minutes later as Cowley took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Lady Tigers continued to pour it on thanks to second-half goals from Jessica Meira and Maria O'Callaghan. Western Texas avoided the shutout when Lilly Gansauge scored with less than three minutes remaining.

Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos was pleased with the way his team played as they improved their record to 3-0 on the season.

"We were able to possess the ball most of the game and dictate the tempo," dos Santos said. "We missed several opportunities to score but were able to finish enough to put them away. It was a very important win to give the team a boost to get into conference play."

The Lady Tigers will play at Dodge City (1-0) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The game will serve as the conference-opener for both teams.

"Dodge City will be challenging," dos Santos said. "They will come ready to fight. We need to continue building the chemistry on the team and go to Dodge ready to compete."
