Nine Tigers named all-conference; Baldridge named Gold Glove recipient

Helping the Cowley College baseball team to a national ranking and 43 wins, nine Tigers earned all-conference honors.

"I think it is awesome that these guys got recognition for playing well and having good years," Cowley head coach Darren Burroughs said.

Sophomore relief pitcher Cade Perkins (4-1, 2.72 earned run average) was joined on the list of First Team all-conference performers by freshmen outfielders Kade Sheldon (.394 average, five home runs, 43 runs batted in) and Alex Conover (.378 average, 13 home runs, 56 RBI), as well as starting pitcher Cody Airington (7-2, 3.14 ERA).

Sophomore third baseman Keaton Campbell (.343 average, eight home runs, 66 RBI) and shortstop Jadyn McNealy (.368 average, four home runs, 55 RBI) were named to the Second Team, as was freshman designated hitter Dane Harvey.

Freshman relief pitcher Tallen Bagwell (4-1, 4.54 ERA) was named an Honorable Mention all-conference selection, as was Cade Baldridge (.338 average, five home runs, 50 RBI), who was also a Gold Glove recipient at second base after committing only three errors in 223 opportunities.

Six of the nine Tigers that earned all-conference honors were freshmen.

"I am proud of those guys and expect even bigger things from them as sophomores," Burroughs said.

Johnson County first baseman Dagen Brewer (.424 average, 18 home runs, 86 RBI) was named the Jayhawk East Most Valuable Player, while Johnson County freshman Brandon Stone (13-1, 3.17 ERA) was named Pitcher of the Year.

Kansas City's Frankie Santiago (.343 average, 15 home runs, 46 RBI) was tabbed the Jayhawk East Freshman of the Year, and Johnson County head coach Eric Horner was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Cavaliers to conference and region titles.
