Tiger basketball players sign with four-year schools

Leading the Cowley College men's basketball team to unprecedent heights over the past two seasons, Cowley College recently had four sophomores sign with four-year schools.

The sophomores went a combined 50-11, captured back-to-back conference titles, qualified for back-to-back national tournament appearances, won a region title for the first time in 64 years and finished as the 2020-2021 national runner-up.

"These sophomores changed the entire program, changed our style of play, and changed my life for the rest of my coaching days," Cowley head coach Tommy DeSalme said. "This is as special of a sophomore group as any I have ever been a part of. I loved being around this group every single day."

Dalen Ridgnal, who was a two-time All-American at Cowley, signed with the University of Georgia. Ridgnal was named a First-Team All-Region selection for the second straight year and was the Most Valuable Player in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division. The sophomore led Cowley in scoring (21.1) and rebounds (12.8) per game as he finished his career as the ninth all-time leading scorer in the history of the program.

Mike'l Henderson signed with NCAA Division I University of Tennessee at Martin. Henderson, who averaged 16.4 points and 4.4 assists, was named an Honorable Mention All-Region selection. Henderson finishes his Tiger career as the 14th all-time leading scorer in Cowley history.

Shemarri Allen, who averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game signed with NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City, while Moun'tae Edmundson, who averaged 14.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, signed with NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian University.

Fellow sophomores Cevin Clark, Jacquez Yow, and Biar Garang are expected to make announcements on where they will continue their basketball careers in the coming days.
